Change requires that you love yourself enough to want more, better, something different. When you are preparing for a change and declare to the world that in the New Year, you are embracing a New You, that is magical! You are setting the intention to change. That is the first step.
- Make a declaration
I _________________________________, declare that on (enter the date), that I am (then write out what it is you intend on changing).
Here's my example,
I, Jovanhanna, declare on April 1, 2017 that I will read one book each week for the next 12 months.
- Write a letter or intent or commitment to yourself.
This doesn't have to be long or complicated. It just something to keep you motivated. What are you committed to? You can simply list it out or you can write an actual letter.
- Each day be committed to the process.
Every day you will have to make the decision to follow through. Commitment isn't a one time thing it's a continuous process. This is where your commitment letter comes in handy. When you don't feel like following through, read your letter and recommit.
- Get the support you need
Accountability is key! Get an accountability partner. Someone that will help you stay on track. If you don't have one there are tons of goal tracking apps that you may find helpful. My favorite is Habitica.
As you make progress celebrate. Find ways to reward your accomplishments. This is a big deal!
