Do you have migraines? This past month I have been getting them frequently and they are intense. I needed to find relief because it’s impacting every area of my life. So I started looking at a few things to see if I could get rid of these recurring migraines.
The first three things that came to mind were my diet and water intake, stress management, and health.
I started looking at my diet. Paying attention to what I was eating and drinking was important because I know that the things we put in our body can cause symptoms like this.
Overall, I was eating okay. I definitely was not drinking as much water as I normally do. I realized I started drinking more soda, which is unusual for me. My diet overall was fairly good.
I eat a lot of carbs because, pizza and pasta! I decided to cut out snacking on things like chips and to increase my water intake. My minimum water intake was 64 oz.
Anything over that was just extra. So I will be going back to that practice.
- Starting my day with water, not coffee
- Drink a minimum of 80 oz. daily
Where do I begin with this one? My life is pretty full. I’m not complaining about that. I have a teen and a super energetic toddler.
I work full-time, maintain this blog, and am growing a business.
Notice anything missing? Umm..a social life! My friend reminded me that my family is my social life and that is so true, but that isn’t a complete social circle for me.
Outside of that I still need to do other things. I need to get out more! I went to an amazing event yesterday in downtown Raleigh.
I got to spend an hour in wanderlust downtown and I loved it. That time was priceless and reminded me that I need to feed my spirit more doing the things I love.
I walked past art galleries, bars, restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops, and businesses. All of it spoke to me.
Some things that I will be putting into place are:
- Go to at least 1 event each month
- Connect with my friends more
- Make a monthly artist date with just me!
A car accident injured my neck. It will flare up and then I get a lot of tension and headaches.
That adds to my stress, makes me uncomfortable, and irritable. Not to mention it hurts like hell!
The only way to handle this is to go back to the chiropractor and physical therapy.
This reminded me to take care of myself much better.
- Make an appointment with the chiropractor
- Daily yoga and meditation
There is definitely a mind-body-soul connection so when something is out of whack, I evaluate everything.
I’m looking forward to taking better care of myself and getting rid of these migraines.
