It’s that time of the year, when our bodies are more likely to catch a cold.
My girls and I haven’t been sick in a very long time. Trust me when I say I’m grateful for that because health is wealth!
I don’t get sick often, but when I do…oh my goodness it is the WORST! At the first sign of a cold, I take action to boost my immune system to fight back.
Cold and flu season our immune systems come under attack. I am the worst sick person ever and do my best to avoid getting sick.
There are many immune boosting things we can take and do to protect ourselves and the little ones from the nasties.
Essential Oils Support Your Immune System
Like using essential oils! I love Oregano essential oil for it’s immune benefits. I have a handy set of oils that are great for boosting my health and wellness!
I however was not a fan of it, until the day I needed it. I started the day feeling great, except I my nose started running. I thought to myself, ‘it must be the change in temperature going from cold air outside to warm air inside‘ No big deal, Right? I. WAS. WRONG!
Hours later my head pounded, my eyes hurt, and I was congested. I was a hot mess and felt like I got hit by a truck!
I had to act fast to keep this cold from overtaking me, by jump starting my immune system. I can’t afford to be sick. I have things to do!
I grabbed my Oregano oil. I love oregano, just not the oil form. It is so strong and overpowering, but it’s effective at immune support.
To ease the blow I made one of my delicious smoothies and added the oil to that instead. I was able to get it down successfully and began to feel much better.
Here is the delicious and immune boosting smoothie that helped me give my body the support it needed:
Cold Kickin’ Smoothie
- Oregano essential oil 1-2 drops
- Date Sugar
I added water and blended the ingredients in my NutriBullet. I’m not a fan of how Oregano tastes, but I was able to get through it by taking shots and focusing on the outcome, feeling better! I blended enough to have some for the next day, and kept drinking it for a few days.
I am happy to say that I was able to shake what I was coming down with like a champ.
In addition to taking it internally, it can be applied diluted to the bottoms of your feet.
