When you think about commitment, normally you think about other people. It's generally focused on the external, but that's not what I'm talking about.
I'm discussing the importance of being committed to yourself.
How often are you quitting on yourself? Are you cheating yourself out of the life and love you deserve?
Being committed to yourself is one of the best things that you can do to become the woman you desire to be.
If we of look around us, we can see that there's a lack of commitment across the board, with ourselves and our relationships and even in our, you know, faithfulness to God or our own spiritual beliefs.
So, I really thought about that message and to me it was really spot on. I thought about the different things that I see and that I hear and I can definitely agree there is a lack of commitment. Are there some people that are committed and doing the right things. And when I say commitment, I'm not necessarily just talking about being in relationships, although at some point I'll get there.
The Most Important Commitment
But the most important commitment that I want to talk about is your commitment to yourself. And some people may disagree because I always say that the relationship you have with yourself is your most important relationship. And some people will say that, no, it's your relationship with God? And I totally get that and I understand that. But the reason why I say that your relationship with yourself is the most important is because God created you and you were created in his image.
So to love yourself is to love God in a part of you. Your spirit is a part of you naturally. So that element, of your spirit will be cultivated when you're, when you love yourself. That's one of the four layers, you know, to, to being a person. There's the mental, emotional, there's the physical, the spiritual and the financial. Those are the four layers that I really talk about when I coach people and when I do speaking engagements
So being committed to yourself, if we're not committed to ourselves, we're not going to be able to commit to anything. It's really important that you know who you are and what you believe so that you can commit to them. *That noise is really irritating me. I'm hoping that you don't hear it, outside and they are trimming bushes so the great saw is annoying me*.
But, so if you're not committed to yourself, then you're not even going to commit to a relationship with God necessarily. You're not going to commit to relationships. You might not even commit to making a change in your life. Like I'm changing a habit, uh, eating healthier, drinking more water, exercising, growing your hair to a certain level, taking better care of yourself overall, doing your best and making positive changes.
Are You Committed to Yourself?
So I posed this question, are you committed to yourself? Are you every day doing the things that you need to do for yourself? Or are you kind of just going through life and you're not even really sure because maybe you never even thought about it like that. But, you know, when I hear different things that move me or motivate me or pique my interest, I kind of try to look at, you know, my life and how can I apply it? Am I applying it and how can I share it with others?
And, you know, even going forward and talking about relationships, I'm not laughing because it's funny, I'm just laughing because there's so much stuff going on these days. It can seem like there's a lack of commitment, you know, over all.
There are some great relationships and successful marriages, you know, where people are able to commit to each other and really stand by what that means. And then there are some men and women that are out here playing games. You know, they're going from this one that, that one sneaking around, you know, playing games.
If you're dating, that's fine because you know, you're dating to get to know people. I'm talking about people that are supposed to be in a relationship and they are not. And even when you're dating, you really need to still be committed to yourself so that you're not just giving yourself too everyone, but that's a whole nother story.
I just wanted to kind of touch on this whole thing about commitment. And that goes for even friendships, your relationships with your family. But most importantly, like I said, you know, you want to make sure that you're committed to yourself.
Commitment Leads to Change
You're committed to your goals, you're committed to creating positive change in your life. And you know, you're committed to just being a better you. You know, if you're having trouble getting up in the morning and make a commitment to yourself that every morning you're going to wake up when the alarm goes off, you're going to start your day off, right and you're going to move through life with a little more ease because now you're prepared and you don't have to rush.
So committing to ourselves is a great way to start to make changes in our lives and start doing the things that really truly mattered to us.
“Your Life is Your Business, Manage It.”Jovhanna, The Spiritual Love Healer
I'll use this as an example. If you have a job every day you go to work, you take your lunch when you're supposed to, you take your breaks and you're supposed to, you know, you do your job and you do it well because you need your job, right? That same commitment to your work ethic, apply that to your life and you're guaranteed to see change.
So I'm going to go ahead and sign off and I really hope that you enjoyed this and maybe I gave you a little something to think about when it comes to commitment. Commit to yourself first and everything else, just start to fall into place. You should be the center of your life and make sure that you're doing the things you need to do for you.
I just posted an article that talks about why self love needs to be a priority. A lot of us don't really make a conscious effort to take the time for self care and to love ourselves and to make sure we're where we need to be as a person.
I want to see if you're doing that. If so, then that's awesome. If not, can you make that commitment to yourself so that you can start to grow and develop. If you are ready to make some changes, committing to your personal and spiritual healing and development, I'd love to be support you.
